Inter striker Christian Vieri has been ruled out of the Coppa Italia final first leg.Internazionale striker Christian Vieri has been ruled out of the Coppa Italia final first leg meeting with Roma.
Vieri picked up a muscle injury during Italy's World Cup qualifier against Norway last Saturday which he suffered after coming on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw.
He has undergone scans on the complaint and tests have shown that Vieri has incurred a minor muscle strain.
The injury is serious enough to sideline Vieri for Sunday's first leg of the Coppa Italia final against Roma.
The powerful front man will now channel his energies into shrugging off the problem in time for the second leg on June 15.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini, though, has received better news on the fitness of Marco Materazzi, who was also hurt playing for Italy.
Materazzi aggravated a thigh injury but he has been undergoing physiotherapy on the complaint and should be fit.
Mancini is still waiting to fully assess his squad with many of his players still away on international duty but the absence of Vieri will be a blow.
