Samuel appeal rejected

Walter Samuel has failed in his attempts to overturn his three-game ban.

Internazionale defender Walter Samuel has failed in his attempts to overturn his three-game ban.

The Argentine stopper was hit with the suspension after being found guilty of spitting at Juventus star Pavel Nedved during the Italian Supercup meeting between the two sides.

Samuel protested his innocence, while Nedved admitted he was not aware of any wrongdoing, but his pleas fell on deaf ears at the initial hearing.

It was a similar scenario on Thursday as Samuel's appeal was dismissed and he will now serve a three-game ban.

"We take note of this decision," said Inter president Giacinto Facchetti. "We are really sorry it went this way, in particular for the player who has been penalised on both the technical and the moral point of view."
