Fiorentina insist they have not met with Inter officials about Luca Toni's availability.
Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has insisted that he has not met with Internazionale official Gabriele Oriali to discuss the possible transfer of Luca Toni to the Nerazzurri.
Oriali claimed he spoke with the Fiorentina official regarding Toni's availability but Corvino has rebuffed the suggestions.
However, had they met, Corvino is adamant he would have turned down Inter's advances for the Italian international striker who scored 31 goals in Serie A last term.
"I would have liked a meeting with Oriali, a person who I have high admiration for, but it's about a year since I met with him," Corvino said.
"Should I have spoken with him, I would have had the chance to confirm to him, as I did with [Inter technical director] Marco Branca, that Toni is not for transfer.
"The only negotiations we have with Inter are about the possible permanent signing of defender Alessandro Potenza."
Meanwhile, Toni's agent Tullio Tinti insists his player is not becoming distracted by the ongoing speculation about his club future.
The Viola front man is currently on World Cup duty with Italy and Tinti has hit out at the two clubs' officials for making claims about the player when Toni is trying to concentrate on national team preparations.
"Luca is concentrating on the national team and he is mature enough to not get distracted by these claims," he said.
"These negotiations? You have to ask the clubs. Corvino and Oriali's are different. Evidently someone is telling a lie."
