Serie A Round-Up

Internazionale hung on to win 4-3 at home to Chievo which keeps them top of Serie A.

Internazionale stayed top after beating Chievo 4-3 at home, while Roma kept up the pressure at the top with a 4-0 win at Parma.

Roberto Mancini's side maintained their position at the top of the league, but they were forced to work hard for the victory. Hernan Crespo opened the scoring for the home side on 11 minutes, before Walter Samuel (57), Dejan Stankovic (64) gave the Serie A champions a commanding lead. But Crespo's second on 70 minutes signalled the start of a near collapse.

Sergio Pellissier's 77th minute penalty gave Chievo a foothold in the match before Simone Tiribocchi (86) and Matteo Brighi (87) completed the scoring for the visitors, as they ran the Guiseppe Meazza close.

Roma kept up their pressure at the top of the table with a thumping 4-0 win away at Parma. Vincenzo Montella (5), Simone Perrotta (45), Aleandro Rosi (54) and Alberto Aquilani (90) gave the visitors the points.

Palermo were surprise 2-0 losers at Empoli. Luca Saudati (28) and Sergio Almiron (54) handed the Stadio Carlo Castellani outfit an important win, as Palermo slipped to third. Roberto Guana was also sent off for the visitors.

Fiorentina remain in serious trouble at the bottom of the league following their 1-0 defeat to Udinese. Vincenzo Iaquinta's 40th minute strike proved the difference between the sides, which leaves Viola still rooted to the bottom on minus 16 points.

Lazio took their points tally to minus five with a 1-0 win at home to Atalanta. Sebastiano Siviglia was the hero of the day, with his winner in the 69th minute.

Second bottom Reggina earned a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Torino. Francesco Modesto (55) opened the scoring for the Stadio Oreste Granillo side before Gianluca Comotto (65) equalised for Torino.

Siena and Cagliari played out a 0-0 draw at Artemio Franchi, as Daniele Portanova was sent off at the death for a second bookable offence.

It was a tale of two Delvecchios in the match at the Stadio Cino E Lullo Del Duca, as Ascoli took an early lead against Sampdoria through Marco Delvecchio on 14 minutes.

The visitors had Giulio Falcone red carded on 19 minutes, but came back through Gennaro Del Vecchio and claim a point.
