Stankovic set on Inter stay

Dejan Stankovic is ready to see out his playing days with Internazionale.

Internazionale star Dejan Stankovic says he is ready to see out his playing days at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Serbian international has been in impressive form for the Nerazzurri this season and is currently negotiating a new deal with his existing contract due to expire in 2008.

Since moving into a more central role with Inter, Stankovic has emerged as a key player in Roberto Mancini's plans and the midfielder is now looking to end his career with the Serie A leaders.

"I hope to end my career at Inter and to sign a deal for life, and I say I'll remain here 100 percent," Stankovic told a press conference.

"Just two words are needed. Inter spoke with my agent, we are just at the beginning, but there are no problems.

"As I have said, I'll stay here at Inter 100 percent.

"It is wrong to say my future depends on Roberto Mancini's. At this moment it is most important to see Inter, rather than my contract or Mancini's.

"Is it right saying my wish is to stay with the Nerazzurri? Absolutely yes, should Inter agree I'm ready to confirm it for the next ten years."
