Mateo Kovacic has revealed he would prefer not to move for another year after Dinamo Zagreb claimed there was interest from Tottenham and Manchester City. Kovacic is still only 17 but has already represented Croatia at Under-21 level and is regarded as an extremely exciting prospect for the future. A number of clubs across Europe are understood to have been keeping tabs on his progress and Dinamo say Premier League duo Spurs and Man City are keen to secure his services on a permanent deal this winter. Director of sport Zoran Mamic is unsure what will happen before the transfer window slams shut but has indicated that Dinamo would be willing to listen to offers. "The transfer window is quiet at our club at the moment," Mamic told 24sata.

Still young

"But nobody knows what the next few days will bring to us. "The fact is that Manchester City and Tottenham are interested in Mateo Kovacic and they want to buy him right now. "But even if we would say yes and the deal would go through, he would stay with us until the end of the season." While Dinamo appear prepared to let Kovacic leave in the summer, the teenager feels it would be better for his development to stay for at least another 12 months. "I'm still young and in no hurry," said Kovacic. "I believe that it would be good for me if I would stay at Dinamo for one more year and then go out from Croatia."
