The striker appeared destined to leave the Eternal City in the summer after coming in for strong criticism from Sensi.
However, a transfer was not concluded and he answered his critics by netting Roma's first goal of the season.
Delvecchio has admitted he was hurt by Sensi's comments, but appears to have been spurred on by the criticism.
He said: "It's strange Roma's first goal of the season came from a player who was supposed to leave, isn't it?
"I was disappointed (by Sensi's comments). I would have expected more respect for a player who has been with Roma for such a long time.
"But I am stubborn and when someone says such things, I engage myself better. Anyway, I am still here with the national team.
"I've not talked to Sensi and anyway it is not up to me to make the first step."
Delvecchio is keen for Roma to bounce back from last season's disappointments when the scudetto race was dominated by Juventus and Internazionale.
"We are at their level," said Delvecchio. "Obviously they are favourites but we have the enthusiasm and anger after a negative year.
"Also, we will have the advantage of not playing in the Champions League - a prestigious but at the same time stressful competition."
