Stankovic issues rallying cry

By Nadia Carminati
Dejan Stankovic has sent a rallying cry to his Lazio team-mates, insisting that two devastating losses are merely a setback.

Stankovic is one of the few Lazio players to emerge with credit from a couple of games which saw humiliating defeat at home to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League and a bitter 2-0 loss to local rivals Roma.

The Serbia & Montenegro international insists that the club cannot afford to dwell on the defeats - and that the season can still bring success.

"Nothing is lost but we must win our next two Champions League matches," said Stankovic.

"It is difficult but certainly not impossible.

"We have been unlucky in the last two games. We have not finished the chances that we made and we have been hit with injuries to key players.

"In the championship we have just two less points than we did at this stage last season - so we can certainly recover.

"We are sorry for our supporters because we have not won a derby in three-and-a-half years.

"But we cannot dwell on this and must now look forward to the game against Perugia."
