Roma take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their Coppa Italia match against Palermo thanks to a Marco Delvecchio strike.
The former Italian international was celebrating his return to the team after a lengthy absence through injury and hit the decisive goal five minutes before half time.
The Serie B outfit gave a good account of themselves and goalkeeper Carlo Zotti and defender Christian Panucci both had to be alert to stop Palermo scoring.
Stadio Olimpico coach Fabio Capello conceded the underdogs deserved more from the game: "It has been a difficult match. Palermo are in a good condition and they played better than us.
"The result is positive but sincerely, we didn't deserve it. Anyway the result is good, the most important thing it was not to concede."
With Giallorossi supremo Franco Sensi willing to sell the club, the Roma president said stories of negotiations taking place and of him leaving before the end of the season were rubbish.
He said: "I'd be a fool leaving this team now, before June.
"I'll stay here for another 6 months, then I have to think because I will be 78-years-old. But I already have contacts (to buy the club)."
