Siena are looking to keep hold of wantaway playmaker Rodrigo TaddeiSiena may have already captured striker Massimo Maccarone on loan during the January transfer window, but their biggest accomplishment would be holding onto wantaway Brazilian Rodrigo Taddei after a protracted dispute with the talented player.
The 24-year-old attracted interest from Roma over the summer, although the proposed transfer fell through when Siena president Paolo de Luca brought a halt to the process.
Siena have been determined to hold onto the playmaker even though his contract expires at the end of the current term.
Coach Gigi Simoni said: "President De Luca said he will stay with us until the end of the season. Does he want to leave? I only know he has a contract with us until June 30 and that he must respect it."
Since rejecting a contract extension after the collapse of his prospective Roma transfer, Taddei had been frozen out of the first team, although he has returned in the last few weeks.
Italian press reports suggested that Siena, currently placed 18th in Serie A, would look to sell Taddei in January.
However, his coach rejected such speculation.
"He has to try to honour, at best, the agreement that binds him to Siena," said Simoni.
The ex-Palmeiras man is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club.
