The Roma shot-stopper has endured a disappointing season in Serie A and reports in Italy suggest he will be shipped out of the club at the end of the season.
Pelizzoli has conceded 26 goals in 14 league appearances this term and his performances have not impressed Roma coach Luigi Delneri.
The 24-year-old's fitness has been a bone of contention with Delneri, while several costly mistakes have not helped to press his claims.
Delneri has regularly opted to place his faith in youngster Carlo Zotti, heightening the rumours that Pelizzoli will move on in the summer.
The keeper, who has two caps for his country, joined Roma in a big-money move from Atalanta in 2001 but is no longer considered an automatic first choice.
His plight has sparked talk in Italy that, if he is sold at the end of the campaign, his probable destination will be England.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United are tipped to be in the market for a keeper in the summer but it is debatable whether they would want to gamble on the gaffe-prone Pelizzoli.
But with the leading Premiership clubs unlikely to risk signing Pelizzoli, the shot-stopper may not be tempted by the prospect of playing for an English team not capable of challenging for honours.
