The Giallorossi captain has pledged his future to the capital club by signing a contract which will keep him at the Stadio Olimpico until 2010.
Totti admitted he had been given assurances over the coaching situation and plans for the club's future before signing the new deal.
"I've been assured certain guarantees regarding the squad, the club and the new coach," said Totti.
"The coach? I don't know who it will be - they are working on two or three names.
"I've taken this step because it is something that I really wanted to do. I just can't see myself in another shirt.
"There is a desire to see Roma return to the levels of the past.
"Winning a title here is worth the same as winning 10 at another club."
Totti also moved to explain why he has been surprisingly been left out of the Italy squad for this weekend's World Cup qualifier with Norway.
"It was a decision that needs to be respected," added Totti.
"Marcello Lippi phoned me on Thursday and he explained the motives behind why he's left me out - even if I can't tell you.
"I'm saddened because I wanted to be a part of the Norway game which is very important."
Meanwhile, Roma have moved to reject reports linking Antonio Cassano with a possible move to Juventus.
Reports in Italy had claimed that Juventus were planning a summer move for Cassano as they look to bolster their squad for next season.
However, Roma have moved to quash the rumours and insist they want to keep the Italian international.
"Cassano is really important for us," said Roma official Rossella Sensi.
"I want to thank him publicly because he has played despite an injury last Sunday in Bergamo.
"I say it must be respected his and our will. Let us be in peace."
