Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has targeted a Champions League place.Roma coach Luciano Spalletti says the club have targeted a UEFA Champions League place after their up-turn in results.
After an indifferent run of results up until Christmas, Roma have come storming back into form, and have won their last seven Serie A games on the bounce.
That has seen them rocket up the table and a convincing 3-0 away win at Parma on Saturday further enhanced their claims for a Champions League place.
With another game coming up on Wednesday against Cagliari, Spalletti has spelt out his desire to get a place in Europe's premier competition.
"Wednesday's match with Cagliari will be fundamental," said Spalletti.
"Although I believe the decision to play it on a neutral pitch and with closed doors to be a wrong one.
"Fiorentina are the ones we need to put pressure on. Their target isn't the Uefa Cup but the Champions League.
"Due to the season they are having it is right that they will go for it.
"But now we will try to earn as high a place as possible. It will be hard, but we will try to keep this rhythm."
Midfielder Simone Perrotta has been one of Roma's best players and he hopes performances like the one against Parma will help his international chances.
"It was an important result for Roma, for me and for the National team," said Perrotta.
"I hope I can be involved and it is also for this reason that I'm working hard."
