Marcello Lippi is upbeat about Francesco Totti's prospects of making the World Cup.
Marcello Lippi remains upbeat about Francesco Totti's prospects of making Italy's World Cup squad.
Totti suffered a serious ankle injury in February which plunged the Roma star's World Cup participation into doubt.
But the forward's doctor delivered a positive bulletin on Totti's condition earlier this month and the player returned to training on Tuesday.
Azzurri coach Lippi has been heartened by the rapid nature of Totti's recovery and has been keeping in close contact with Roma.
Lippi is now convinced the 29-year-old will be fit for inclusion in his plans for the World Cup, which starts in Germany on June 9.
"I've seen Totti in a good way," admitted Lippi.
"I have daily contacts with Roma's technical staff.
"Francesco's recovery is going in the best possible way.
"I had important confirmation."
