Totti excited to be back

Francesco Totti is excited to be returning to first-team football after a long lay-off.

Roma playmaker Francesco Totti is excited to be returning to first-team football after a long absence through injury.

The Italian international broke his ankle in February, throwing his World Cup participation into doubt.

However, after three months' recovery, Totti should be back for Roma's game with Treviso on Sunday.

"I want to play, I'm looking forward to this," Totti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"When? That is not up to me.

"I will talk with coach Spalletti and we will evaluate whether against Treviso I should start or be a substitute."

The 29-year-old is expected to only be on the bench at the weekend after admitting he was nowhere near full fitness.

"How I feel? Let's say between 40 and 50 percent of my best condition," he added.

Totti will now have to work on his stamina to prove to Azzurri coach Marcello Lippi that he will be ready to play Italy's first World Cup group game against Ghana on June 12.
