Totti desperate to face Lazio

Roma captain Francesco Totti is determined to be fit for Sunday's derby with Lazio.

Totti is carrying an ankle injury which forced him to sit out Tuesday's UEFA Champions League win over Valencia.

The problem has raised a question mark over his availability for the weekend's Serie A encounter with bitter rivals Lazio.

But the Roma talisman is hoping he can shake off the knock to lead out his side at Stadio Olimpico.

"The ankle still gives me pain and the ligament, too, gives me problems," said Totti.

"But I'll do everything to be present on Sunday."

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is also optimistic that he will be able to pick Totti for the meeting with Lazio.

Spalletti said: "I'm confident, despite the ligament strain.

"I'm certainly confident Totti will recover."

Meanwhile, Totti is hoping Roma can take advantage of any slip-up by Internazionale, who are currently four points clear at the top.

Totti added: "We must, and we can, believe in the scudetto.

"As for Inter, I say that we are only hoping they could have a fall because if they continue in this way it will be hard to recover."
