Argentine defender set to secure permanent switch to Stadio Olimpico

Nicolas Burdisso's agent claims his client has already reached an agreement to join Roma this summer. The Argentine defender spent the 2009/10 campaign on loan at the capital club, helping them to finish as runners-up in Serie A. Having slipped down the pecking order at Inter, he is now looking to secure a permanent move away from Giuseppe Meazza. The arrival of Rafa Benitez as the club's new coach could help to reignite his career in Milan, with the slate wiped clean, but he has already made up his mind. A deal has been reached with Roma in principal, with a fee all that is left to negotiate with Inter.

Progress

"We have already reached an agreement with Roma and I don't think there will be many problems with Inter," Burdisso's agent Fernando Hidalgo told TeleRadioStereo. "There are no issues with Roma and negotiations are progressing to an advanced stage already." Burdisso, who is currently away on World Cup duty with his country, has regularly expressed his desire to return to Stadio Olimpico on a full-time basis. "Next week I will talk with both clubs," added Hidalgo. "So we must still wait a while to make a more concrete analysis of the situation."
