Roma skipper laid low with thigh injury

Francesco Totti has suffered a thigh injury and is a major doubt for Roma's derby date with Lazio on 16th October. The Serie A outfit have confirmed that their skipper has picked up a knock and faces a race against time to be fit for the first meeting between Italy's capital rivals this season. Totti was forced off during Roma's 3-1 victory over Atalanta on Saturday, with it clear that he was in some pain. It is expected that he will be sidelined for around two weeks, but will then need to work on his match sharpness. The international break comes at a good time, as he will get the opportunity to rest and work on his rehabilitation, but he may struggle to shake off the problem in time to face Lazio. "Francesco Totti underwent a scan which revealed a muscular injury in his right thigh," read a statement released by the club. "The player's condition will be evaluated in the next few days."
