The Italian FA (Figc) have ruled that the contract Manfredini signed for Lazio is valid and that the Biancoceleste must hand over the agreed money to owners Chievo.
However, Lazio want to walk away from the deal, and are livid that the Figc have ruled against them.
Indeed, president Sergio Cragnotti has insisted that they are willing to take the case to court rather than snap up the player - who was one of the stars of last season for surprise-package Chievo.
The Verona minnows wowed Italian football last season - when they strode to the head of the table and, despite a late slip, qualified for the Uefa Cup.
