The Biancoceleste have been involved in a wrangle with Udinese regarding the capture of Pizarro but are now primed to add Atalanta ace Dabo to their ranks.
Dabo, who has caught the eye of Tottenham and Blackburn Rovers, is believed to be discussing a move to Stadio Olimpico.
Following Atalanta's relegation from Serie A, the 26-year-old is keen to continue playing top-flight football and the French international is set to stay in Italy, despite interest from England.
Lazio are understood to have agreed a fee with Atalanta, who were seeking around é¼6 million for the player, and are now seeking to persuade Dabo to make the switch to the Eternal City.
"It is true both clubs are in talks," said the Frenchman. "But I don't know a lot more.
"Of course, it is something I would appreciate.
"It is a great team which will play in the Champions League preliminary round.
"I would really be delighted to go there. I think I have a great chance to play there."
Roberto Mancini's side are also finally close to sealing a deal to sign Chilean midfielder Pizarro from Udinese.
The move for Pizarro was on the brink of collapse after Fabio Liverani refused to move to Udine in part-exchange.
But it now appears Mancini has cajoled Argentinian winger Lucas Castroman into being the bargaining chip in the deal to snare Pizarro.
