The giant striker has been linked with a return to Germany after a nightmare first season in Italy last term, but Udinese want to give the former Bayern Munich man a chance to prove his worth.
"The German is a big value player and last season can't be considered, we give him rightly another possibility because we have faith in him," said Udinese general director Pierpaolo Marino.
"Now he's in a good fitness condition and he will put his qualities at the team's disposal."
Meanwhile, Udinese have all but given up hope of reaching an agreement over their player swap deal with Lazio.
Udinese trio David Pizarro, Martin Jorgensen and Alberto were all expected to join Lazio for é¼8 million plus Lucas Castroman and Fabio Liverani, but the deal collapsed after Liverani rejected the chance to join Udinese.
Marino has blamed Lazio for the demise of the deal and wants the matter resolved soon.
"This isn't a difficult negotiation, because it was closed a month ago," added Marino. "But this confusion created by Lazio isn't helping anyone, also because our players have to be happy.
"Lazio have to tell us what they want to do, and even if they want to do something."
Lazio sporting director Oreste Cinquini is hoping to have a resolution to the complicated affair in the next 48 hours
"The negotiation is difficult and there are different problems," said Cinquini.
"There are troubles about signings, problems with players' agents and problems between Udinese and their players".
