Batistuta became an instant hit with the fans of the Florentine club after arriving from Boca Juniors.
The Argentine became one of the most feared strikers in world football, but after becoming synonymous with one of the club's most successful eras eventually moved on to Roma when financial strife saw the club hit dire straits.
Although he was heavily linked with a move to English football - with the likes of Fulham and West Ham believed to be eyeing the prolific forward, Batistuta opted for a move to Qatar last summer - but is now considering a return to the club that forged his reputation.
"A season with Fiorentina in Serie A?" said Batigol."I could certainly try again.
"I have had a positive experience in Qatar. It has not been too challenging and it has given my ankles a rest!
"Now I would like to play once more in important matches. Then I could see at first hand if I am still capable of providing the service that they would expect of me."
Fiorentina sealed their promotion after beating Perugia in a two-legged play-off, and focus has already moved to incoming players.
Lazio's financial problems could see them sell off their best players - and striker Simone Inzaghi is another rumoured to be attracting interest from the Viola.
However, the player's agent - Tullio Tinti told skysports.com that there is nothing substantial about this story.
"Simone Inzaghi to Fiorentina? This is entirely speculative," said Tinti
"There is no contact from Fiorentina."
Empoli star Antonio Di Natale is a third option for Fiorentina - who are expected to replace promotion-winning coach Emiliano Mondonico with a higher-profile candidate.
