Palermo have confirmed they are interested in Paulo Vitor de Souza Barreto of Treviso.Palermo have confirmed they are interested in Brazilian striker Paulo Vitor de Souza Barreto but fear Treviso will demand too much money.
The ambitious Sicilian outfit are keen to add to their squad in the summer, particularly with the possibility of a European campaign on the agenda.
The club sit sixth in Serie A but are only two points off a UEFA Champions League berth, with owner Maurizio Zamparini boasting grand plans for the club.
Among Zamparini's targets for the end of the season is Barreto, who has scored nine goals for Treviso in Serie B this term.
But Zamparini, who also discussed other possible recruits, feels Treviso may ask for too high a transfer fee for the hot shot.
"We have already planned our market with the coach," said Zamparini.
"In case of European qualification we will have to improve our group. In that case I wouldn't exclude the possible return of the Filippini twins (Antonio and Emanuele, who are currently at Lazio).
"We are following [Stephen] Makinwa with a big interest but negotiating with Atalanta is difficult. It would probably be easier to find an agreement with Genoa to obtain their part of the player's joint ownership.
"But another player we are following a lot is Barreto but he costs too much."
