Paolo Maldini's son, Christian, followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather to become the third generation of the family to captain AC Milan.
Christian, 19, son of Paolo and grandson of Cesare, led the U19 side for their friendly against Novara on Saturday.
Both his father and grandfather wore the armband at U19 level, before going on to greater things with the Milan giants.
Paolo won five European Cups and seven Serie A titles during a 25-year career with the club, while Cesare won the national title four times and captained Milan when they became champions of Europe for the first time at Wembley in 1963.
Christian, who is also a defender, was given the armband in honour of Cesare who died on April 3.
Cesare also went on to manage Milan and the Italy national team which Paolo captained for a number of years.
