The Turin side had seen Inter keep up the pressure at the head of the league with a victory on Saturday - but a late goal from David Trezeguet, with just six minutes left on the clock, was enough to hand the Bianconeri victory.
Juve were hugely helped by the dismissal of Giampiero Pinzi on the hour mark.
Milan missed an opportunity to close the gap on Juve and arch-rivals Inter, following a 0-0 draw with Chievo Verona at the San Siro.
The Rossoneri will wonder how they did not come away with all three points, after piling plenty of pressure on Chievo's goal throughout the match.
The Flying Donkeys, however, were resilient with their defending and had to be thankful for some fine goalkeeping from Cristiano Lupatelli.
Andrei Shevchenko, Filippo Inzaghi and Clarence Seedorf all missed quality chances to give the home side the lead in the match, while Andrea Pirlo brought an excellent first half save from Lupatelli.
Seedorf was especially unlucky in the second half, having put the ball into Chievo's goal but for it to be called back for off-side.
Chievo's best chance to score came late on from Federico Cossato, but his shot went straight to Milan goalkeeper Dida.
Milan's best chance to score came in injury time at the end of the match when Seedorf's shot was deflected by Lupatelli onto the post and with the goal gaping, Rui Costa's strike off the rebound was sensationally parried away to safety by the Chievo custodian.
The draw keeps Milan six points adrift of Juve while Chievo move to within a point of fourth-placed Lazio in the Serie A table.
At the other end of the table Empoli picked up a crucial 3-1 victory over Piacenza.
Vincenzo Grella, Francesco Tavano and Marco Boriello putting their side in the driving seat before a late consolation for Dario Hubner.
Atalanta could not break down a tough Parma defence, and the Gialloblu picked up a chare of the points with a 0-0 draw.
Two goals in two minutes saw Como take the lead through Fabio Pecchia and then concede a Luca Toni goal as Brescia claimed a draw on their travels, whilst Peurgia came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Modena, Zvisis Vryzas levelling after an opener from Giuseppe Colucci.
Finally, struggling Torino grabbed a morale-boosting 1-0 win against Reggina courtesy of a penalty conversion from Marco Ferrante.
