Chievo Verona continue to struggle at the wrong end of Serie A after a 2-1 defeat at Udinese.
In a tight encounter, Antonio Di Natale's second-half goal settled the issue as both sides finished the game with 10 men.
Sergio Pellissier put Chievo in front after 10 minutes, but World Cup winner Vincenzo Iaquinta (pictured) equalised on 34 minutes.
Di Natale struck the winning goal on 74 minutes before Udinese had Andrea Coda dismissed for a second bookable offence a minute from time.
But Chievo's only response was to have Fabio Moro sent off for his second yellow card moments later, with the club just three points clear of the bottom three.
Empoli picked up a point in their unlikely challenge for a UEFA Champions League spot after drawing 0-0 away to Cagliari.
