Internazionale re-established their four-point lead over Roma with a 2-0 victory over Atalanta, while high-flying Fiorentina defeated Reggina by the same scoreline.
Internazionale had not won in their last three games but they were quickly into their stride against Atalanta.
Patrick Vieira opened the scoring in the 21st minute and Mario Balotelli added a second on 74 minutes, before Cristiano Doni was sent off in stoppage time for Atalanta.
Fiorentina stayed on course for a UEFA Champions League place with a win against Reggina that brings them within two points of Juventus in third.
Giampaolo Pazzini fired Fiorentina ahead on 23 minutes but the points were not made safe until Adrian Mutu's goal in the 90th minute.
Juventus had a day to forget in Palermo as they came back from going two goals down but still ended up losing 3-2.
