Sampdoria and Palermo sack coaches Walter Zenga and Giuseppe Iachini

Serie A clubs Sampdoria and Palermo have sacked their coaches Walter Zenga and Giuseppe Iachini respectively.

Zenga was released by Sampdoria without an immediate replacement; with former Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella reportedly a favourite to take over at Stadio Luigi Ferrairis.

Palermo fired their coach Giuseppe Iachini and immediately hired Davide Ballardini for the rest of the season.

Sampdoria severed ties with Zenga following a 2-0 loss at home to Italian league leaders Fiorentina on Sunday, leaving them 10th in the league table. Palermo, who sit 12th in the league table, sacked Iachini following a 1-0 win over Chievo Verona. They sit 12th in the league table.

This signifies the fourth and fifth coaching changes this season in Serie A, with Carpi having fired Fabrizio Castori before rehiring him last week and Roberto Donadoni replacing Delio Rossi at Bologna already.
