Toni squares up to Palermo on Wednesday and it will be the first time the Italy international striker has faced the Rosanero since leaving.
The 28-year-old enjoyed his time with Palermo, but is hoping Fiorentina can end 2004 on a positive note.
"It's useless hiding it, the game against Palermo will be special for me," explained Toni.
"I felt good there for two years and scored a lot of goals. I want to finish 2005 in a positive way."
Luigi Delneri is under pressure at Palermo, although sporting director Rino Foschi has every confidence in the coach.
"I've never lost faith in him. In Europe he never lost a match and against Livorno he lost an incredible match," stated Foschi.
"This is a crucial period for us, but I think the problems aren't Delneri's."
