Mauricio Pinilla may have struck a decisive blow against the Dutchman with a match-winning 87th-minute penalty after Davide Santon fouled Franck Kessie. Atalanta had earlier taken the lead through Andrea Masiello before Eder's thunderous shot levelled the scores after the break.

Roma reinforced their title credentials with a confident 4-1 home victory over Palermo.

All three members of the dangerous frontline - Mohamed Salah, Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy - ran riot at the Stadio Olimpico while Leandro Paredes grabbed a fortuitous goal from a free-kick shortly after half-time.

Robin Quaison scored a late consolation for struggling Palermo, who sit in the relegation zone as Roma climb to within two points of leaders Juventus.

Scudetto hopefuls Napoli had to play for an hour without the dismissed Manolo Gabbiadini, but still did enough to beat rock-bottom Crotone 2-1.
