Depor axe Tristan and Scaloni

Diego Tristan and Lionel Scaloni have been released by Deportivo La Coruna.

Diego Tristan and Lionel Scaloni have been released by Deportivo La Coruna.

The duo have been axed by the Primera Liga club and are now free to find new clubs as the decision was made prior to the transfer deadline.

But Spanish striker Tristan is fuming at the decision after learning he had not been registered by Depor for this season.

"Neither Scaloni nor I deserve this kind of treatment because we have given a lot to this club," Tristan told Marca.

"Now we are without a club to play for.

"We will hand the matter over to the players' association."

Tristan had been a regular scorer during his early days at the Riazor after joining from Real Mallorca in 2000.

He has struggled of late, though, and had been linked with an exit from Depor over the summer, with a switch to Britain mooted.

Scottish champions Celtic were thought to be keen, while the 30-year-old rejected a transfer to Bolton Wanderers.

Scaloni, meanwhile, has been released after spending the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United.

The full back also appeared for Argentina at the World Cup finals, but is now on the lookout for a new club.

Both Tristan and Scaloni had been linked with a reunion with former Depor coach Javier Irureta at Real Betis, but no offers have yet been forthcoming.
