Atalanta striker Nicola Ventola looks set to sign a new long-term contract with the club.

The 28-year-old, who scored a stunning goal in Atalanta's 2-0 victory over Milan on Sunday, is currently under contract until 2008.

However, he is now set to discuss a three-year extension with president Ivan Ruggeri, tying him to the Stadio Azzurri D`Italia until 2011.

Coach Stefano Colantuono, meanwhile, is set to be offered a new two-year deal.

Christian Vieri, meanwhile, may have to face more surgery to clear up his long-standing knee problem.

The veteran forward had an operation in the spring but it proved unsuccessful and he has not played since.

Colantuono has urged Vieri not to panic though, as he is not concerned about how long it takes the 33-year-old to get fit.

"I want him only at 100 percent," said Colantuono.

"So he has to recover calmly, and then he will play."
