Livorno striker Cristiano Lucarelli wants his side to take on Cuba after he recently met the daughter of revolutionary legend Ernesto 'Che' Guevara.
Lucarelli, who has never been a shrinking violet when it comes to expressing his left-wing opinions, held an hour-long meeting with Aleida Guevara on Wednesday.
After emerging from the discussion he revealed: "I would like to play in Havana against the Cuban national team, with the ticket sales to be handed over to the paediatric hospital for which Aleida works."
Guevara was himself a talented footballer and, had it not been for his radical political activities, he could have carved out a career as a striker in the lower leagues of his native Argentina.
"Lucarelli is a great player and has great principles in his head. My father would have gladly played against him," said his daughter.
