Amelia focused on Livorno

Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia is not getting carried away with his Italy cap in midweek.

Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia says he wants to concentrate on duties with his club, despite appearing for Italy in midweek.

The 23-year-old replaced Juve custodian Christian Abbiati midway through the second half of Italy's 1-1 friendly draw with Ivory Coast in Geneva, Switzerland.

Despite having the chance to impress Azzurri boss Marcello Lippi in the friendly, Amelia is realistic about his chances of making the squad for Germany next summer.

"The national team is a really good memory, but now I only think to Livorno," stressed Amelia.

"The World Cup? I have hope, but I know it's practically an impossible dream because behind me I have many great keepers like Abbiati, (Morgan) De Sanctis, (Flavio) Roma and (Matteo) Guardalben.

"I know I must continue doing good things with Livorno. The rest will be decided by Lippi.

"From now on, my responsibilities are to improve, although I'll enter the pitch tranquil and concentrated."
