Livorno resilient over duo

Livorno president Aldo Spinelli says he is keen to keep hold of two of his stars.

Livorno president Aldo Spinelli has reaffirmed his determination to keep hold of wanted stars Marco Amelia and Cristiano Lucarelli.

Both players have admitted they are unhappy at the Serie A side and have generated interest from a number of clubs as a result.

Goalkeeper Amelia has previously been linked with both Monaco and Roma whilst Lucarelli (pictured) has been attracting admiring glances from a number of suitors over the past few seasons.

The striker recently turned down a move to Zenit St Petersburg and has been slated as a potential recruit for Juventus as they look to rebuild their side.

However, Spinelli says he has no desire to see the talented duo leave.

"I haven't spoken with them," Spinelli told GRT.

"They have contracts for four and two years respectively, they are working in a good way and so there are no reasons why I'd have to meet them.

"If a club wants a player it's necessary to make an offer to the club that own him.

"When we've got them, we will do our evaluations.

"For the moment, referring to Lucarelli, there has only been a negotiation with Zenit St Petersburg that wasn't finalised for the player's refusal due to distance reasons."
