Young defender could leave Polish club

Poland defender Kamil Glik is close to deciding whether he will leave Piast Gliwice and move to Palermo. The 22-year-old centre-back has been strongly linked with a move to the Serie A outfit, and Palermo have made their interest known. Glik, who was once on the books of Real Madrid and who has been capped by Poland, is mulling over his options. "At this moment I am close to the decision to go to play abroad," he said. "Here, I did what I had to do and now I have reached an agreement with another club even if I don't want to reveal it until I sign the contract. "It's better to be cautious at least until Thursday. I can confirm that next week I will fly to Sicily. "My future is unclear and I don't know if I become a Palermo player." Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini is confident a deal can be agreed. He added: "If Glik will come? I think so, I gave the okay to my director and we hope he comes to Palermo. "He's a young player and of course he will not be a starter but will be like all the other guys that once arrived."
