Striker joins Sampdoria from Catania on season-long loan deal
Argentinian striker Maxi Lopez has joined newly-promoted Sampdoria on a season-long loan deal from Catania, subject to a medical.
The 28-year-old, who was also loaned out to AC Milan in January, had been linked with a move away from the Sicilian outfit this summer, with several Serie A clubs keen to acquire his services.
A statement from Sampdoria read: "An agreement between Sampdoria and Catania has been reached.
"The deal will be formalised once the player passes a medical.
"Maxi Lopez will move from Catania to Sampdoria on a temporary basis."
Lopez scored two goals in eight league appearances to help Milan finish runners-up in Serie A.
The South American had hoped to remain with the San Siro outfit on a permanent basis, but the Rossoneri opted not to exercise the right to buy the player.
