Striker requires surgery on knee injury

AC Milan striker Marco Borriello will be out for two months after learning he requires a knee operation. Borriello damaged his meniscus in training last week and a visit to a specialist has shown up the severity of the problem. He will undergo keyhole surgery on Thursday and is not expected to return to action until the end of September. Despite Borriello's injury, Milan are not expected to dip into the transfer market to secure a replacement. Instead, teenage striker Alberto Paloschi will stay at the San Siro during the first half of the season to provide cover. Paloschi was poised to join Torino on loan, however, Borriello's injury has prompted Milan to pull the plug on the deal.
