Manager gets vote of confidence from club bosses

Parma sporting director Pietro Leonardi has insisted under-fire manager Pasquale Marino is the man to turn the team's fortunes around. Parma were tipped to improve on last season's eighth-placed finish in Serie A after appointing Marino over the summer, but instead find themselves hovering just outside the bottom three. They have not won since the opening weekend and reports have suggested that Marino could be dismissed. However, Leonardi has backed the manager to steer Parma away from trouble, insisting that there have been signs of encouragement despite the results. "The many unfavourable episodes have determined our current situation, and the results have not gone our way," Leonardi told Sky Italia. "I am not thinking about sacking Marino, and believe that the side can get out of this situation with the help of our coach. "We need to resolve our goal problems because we are able to create many chances, but convert very few." Parma will be seeking to get back on track when they face Napoli away from home this Sunday.
