Japanese international Atsushi Yanagisawa has left Messina and returned home.Japanese international Atsushi Yanagisawa has left Messina and returned to his homeland.
The 28-year-old has failed to make the grade in Italy having first joined Sampdoria in 2003.
He moved to Genoa in 2003, but then moved on to Messina the following year - but his luck never changed and he actually failed to find the back of the net despite making over 40 league appearances during his time in Italy.
Yanagisawa is now back with Kashima - the club he spent eight years with before moving to Italy.
Messina have confirmed that he has joined Kashima on loan until the end of the season - with a view to a permanent deal.
Yanagisawa needs regular first team football in order to make sure he secures his place in Japan's squad for the 2006 World Cup finals.
