Serie A round-up

Internazionale's historic winning run came to an end, as Roma also drew.

Internazionale's historic winning run came to an end in Serie A as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Udinese on Wednesday night.

The Nerazzurri were chasing an 18th consecutive victory in the Italian top flight but, after going 1-0 down to a goal from Christian Obodo (47), could only battle back for a draw.

Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo (66) ensured Inter remained unbeaten this season and that Roberto Mancini's side retained their 14 point lead over Roma.

The Giallorossi remain a distant second in Serie A after hitting back to draw 2-2 with Chievo, while Milan drew with Palermo on a dramatic day in Italy.

Chievo had a flying start against Roma as Erjon Bogdani (18) and Franco Semioli (33) struck early, but Francesco Totti (pictured) inspired a fine comeback.

The veteran playmaker pulled one back after 33 minutes and equalised three minutes into the second half, but Roma could not force a winner.

Palermo and Milan were both looking to strengthen their chances of UEFA Champions League qualification, but endured a frustrating 90 minutes with neither side able to break the deadlock.

Lazio fell behind against Catania when Giuseppe Colucci struck in the 16th minute, but rallied to win 3-1 and maintain their push for Europe.

Goran Pandev drew the scores level after 59 minutes, before Sebastiano Siviglia (88) and Tommaso Rocchi (90) struck late to stun Catania.

Empoli piled more misery on struggling Messina with a 3-1 victory which lifted them up to fifth.

Luca Saudati netted Empoli's opener after 13 minutes and Franco Semioli popped up in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Messina's Daniele de Vezze was then sent off for foul and abusive language after 55 minutes, before Saudati grabbed his second (62) and Edgar Reyes scored a late consolation (89).

A fiery bottom-of-the table clash between Ascoli and Parma finished 0-0, with Massimo Bonnanni sent off for Ascoli.

Reggina looked set to move three points clear of the bottom three when Pasquale Foggia scored after 57 minutes against Fiorentina, but Adrian Mutu's penalty with two minutes remaining left the final score at 1-1

Torino pulled further clear of trouble with a 1-0 victory over Cagliari, courtesy of Cesare Bovo's 24th minute finish.

Nicola Ventola gave Atalanta a lead after eight minutes at Sampdoria, but the home side recovered to win 2-1.

Fabio Bazzani drew Samp level after 70 minutes, and Sergio Volpi converted a penalty seven minutes from time to clinch the three points.

Siena and Livorno played out a goalless draw at Artemio Franchi.
