Wolfsburg slipped 13 points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich as they were beaten 2-0 at Mainz on Saturday.

Losing Julian Draxler to a red card after just a quarter of an hour did not help Wolfsburg's cause as they went down to goals from Pablo De Blasis and Yunus Malli.

Bayern, meanwhile, beat Stuttgart 4-0 thanks to first-half goals from Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.

Borussia Monchengladbach failed to take full advantage of Wolfsburg's defeat as they dropped their first points in seven matches - and their first under caretaker coach Andre Schubert - in a goalless draw at home to Ingolstadt.

They are now just a point ahead of Cologne, who surprised local rivals Bayer Leverkusen with a 2-1 win in a Rhine derby at the BayArena.

Two goals from Dominic Maroh took Peter Stoger's men above their hosts into seventh place, with Leverkusen losing Kyriakos Papadopoulos to a red card.

Elsewhere, Hoffenheim remain inside the bottom two after drawing 0-0 with Eintracht Frankfurt and Darmstadt and Hamburg scored a goal each at the Bollenfalltor Stadion.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga put Hamburg ahead from the penalty spot but Marcel Heller equalised in the 47th minute.
