Paul Clement has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal to become Swansea City's next manager, Sky sources understand.

Sky Sports News HQ revealed on New Year's Eve that Clement had agreed in principle to succeed the sacked American Bob Bradley and Bayern Munich gave the Swans permission to speak to him on Monday.

Clement, 44, will fly to the United Kingdom to meet with the Swansea squad and chairman Huw Jenkins before watching their Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Tuesday.

He is expected to formally take charge on Wednesday.

Earlier on Monday, Bayern said: "Assistant coach Paul Clement has requested FC Bayern's permission to talk to Premier League club Swansea City about a potential appointment as manager.

"Bayern head coach Carlo Ancelotti and the FC Bayern München AG board of directors have granted this request.

"As a result, Clement will not travel to the Doha training camp along with the FC Bayern squad."

It is understood Clement was interviewed by phone and video conferencing by majority shareholders Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan, and also met chairman Huw Jenkins for face-to-face discussions.

Sky sources reported last week that Clement had emerged as the preferred candidate after he was given serious consideration back in October before Bradley was installed by the club's new American owners.

Clement made his name as an academy coach, then first-team coach and assistant manager at Chelsea, working under Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti, whom he followed as assistant to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

He linked up again with Ancelotti at Bayern last summer after he was sacked by Derby last February with the team sitting in fifth place in the Championship.
