Sparta Prague have rejected reports that Michal Kadlec is poised to complete a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer chief executive Wolfgang Holzhause claimed on Tuesday that an agreement had been struck to bring Kadlec to the LTU Arena.
It was suggested the defender would arrive on an initial one-year loan deal, with the Bundesliga outfit then having the option to make the switch permanent.
However, Sparta Prague have denied the reports, while the player and his agent Pavel Zika have also insisted talk of a move is premature.
"It is at the stage when we study interest from Leverkusen. There are also other clubs which have shown interest," spokesman Jakub Otava told Denik Sport.
"The negotiations are ongoing and no final decision has been made. That is why I cannot confirm Kadlec's loan move to Leverkusen."
Zika added: "Nothing is ironed out, the information is not exact. We are discussing if his move will be permanent or not and other details."
Kadlec, who is also thought to be a target of Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund, said: "I know of Leverkusen's interest. I also know that negotiations are ongoing.
"At this moment no agreement has been reached nor has been anything signed. The deadline for my possible move is the transfer deadline and there is nothing I can say more about it."
