Tromso defender Tore Reginiussen is set to undergo a medical at Blackburn next week.

Defender to have medical next week

Blackburn appear to be closing in on a move for Tore Reginiussen with the Norwegian defender set to undergo a medical at the club next week. The highly-rated 22-year-old, who can also play in midfield, has impressed Rovers scouts with his recent displays for Tromso. Tromso have now confirmed that Reginiussen could be heading to Ewood Park and they will not stand in the way of a transfer. Morten Gamst Pedersen made the switch from Tromso to Blackburn four years ago and director Tom Bendiksen believes Reginiussen may follow in his compatriot's footsteps.

Strong relationship

"We are going to facilitate a transfer for Tore, and it might well be to Blackburn," Bendiksen told his club's official website. "We have a strong and positive relationship with that club." Sporting director Morten Kraemer added: "It is gratifying that Tromso have players who are considered attractive by major European clubs." Reginiussen is set to arrive in England on Sunday and spend a few days with Blackburn ahead of a possible move in January. The centre-back won his first Norway cap earlier this year and scored his first international goal in the 1-1 draw against Republic of Ireland in August. Reginiussen told NTB: "If it could not lead to a transfer, I would probably not go. "As far as I understand it, they are interested in any case."
Jaiteh
Blackburn have also offered a trial to Brann starlet Tijan Jaiteh after the teenage midfielder caught the eye for Gambia in their recent match with Senegal. "We have received a fax from Blackburn that they want Tijan to come for a trial," Brann sports director Roald Bruun-Hanssen told Bergens Tidende. "We have discussed it and with his advisor Per-Ove Ludvigsen. We will think some, but we will decide soon whether we let Tijan travel."
