Hummels suffers fresh ankle ligament woe

Borussia Dortmund will be without defender Mats Hummels for the remainder of the Bundesliga season with an ankle injury. The injury-prone stopper, who had only recently recovered from a similar injury, tore ligaments in his ankle curtailing his immediate availability. It is now amazingly the fourth time in the 20-year-old's career that he has been on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage. "Ligaments are torn apart once again," he told BILD. "I will not be able to make any appearance this season."

No offers

Meanwhile, Dortmund have denied receiving any offers for striker Nelson Valdez, who has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce. "We have received nothing from anyone and this is really of no concern for us," the club's sporting director, Michael Zorc, told Westfalische Rundschau. "The transfer window has just closed!" Valdez's agent, Baskin Osmani, said his client is well-liked by Fener boss Luis Aragones, adding: "Luis Aragones is monitoring Nelson for a long time and the club has been in touch with me to lodge a strong interest in the signature of Nelson."
