In-demand striker commits to Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg have confirmed that highly-rated striker Edin Dzeko has signed a contract extension. The 23-year-old Bosnia international, who was wanted by AC Milan this summer, is now tied to the club until June 2013. Dzeko is delighted to have resolved his future, stating he is now fully focused on the Bundesliga and their UEFA Champions League campaign.

Delighted

"I'm delighted that we have been able to agree terms before the start of the Bundesliga season," he said. "Now I can concentrate fully on Wolfsburg. "I'm looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. We have big plans with VfL." Wolfsburg boss Armin Veh believes the retention of Dzeko bodes well for the club's future due to his importance to the squad. "The early contract extension with Edin Dzeko is a further positive signal for the future. Edin is a very important element of our team," said Veh.
