Schalke maintain winning start, Monchengladbach claim first win

Schalke made it two wins from two in the Bundesliga as they eased to a 3-0 win over Bochum. Two goals in the last six minutes of the first half set Schalke on course for a comfortable victory, with Christoph Moritz firing the hosts into a 39th-minute lead before Heiko Westermann struck on the stroke of half-time to leave Bochum facing an uphill battle. Peruvian forward Jefferson Farfan then sealed victory with 14 minutes remaining to keep Felix Magath's men level with Wolfsburg as the early leaders. Defending champions Wolfsburg are the only other team to have won both their opening league matches. Sunday's other Bundesliga game saw Borussia Monchengladbach enjoy a 2-1 home win against Hertha Berlin. Roel Brouwers headed a 23rd-minute opener for the hosts to claim his second goal of the season and Karim Matmour doubled Monchengladbach's lead in the 52nd minute. The visitors pulled one back just a minute later through Gojko Kacar's second of the campaign but were unable to prevent Monchengladbach claiming their first league win. That moved them up to fourth place with four points while Hertha are eighth having won their league opener last week.
