Hamburg striker Paolo Guerrero has ended transfer speculation by agreeing a new four-year deal with the club.
The 26-year-old's contract was due to expire in May and there was intense speculation he could have played his last game for the club after he was banned for five matches in April.
The ban came after he threw a bottle in the face of a fan as he left the field following the goalless draw with Hanover.
But the Peruvian, who had only just returned from a long-term knee injury, has now agreed a new deal until June 2014 as he believes he will have a good relationship with new Hamburg boss Armin Veh.
The former Wolfsburg manager has signed a two-year contract after being sacked by the Wolves in January.
Guerrero told the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper: "I am feeling at home at Hamburger SV and it is also important for me to know the manager is counting on me.
"I am aware of the manager as he was wanting me to join his former club Wolfsburg when he was in charge. I think we will have a good relationship."
