Hannover have received a double injury blow with the news that Moritz Stoppelkamp and Mohammed Abdellaoue will be out of action for up to a month.
The Bundesliga outfit suffered a 4-0 home defeat to league leaders Borussia Dortmund at the weekend in which both players were injured.
It was revealed that midfielder Stoppelkamp sustained ankle ligament damage while Norway international striker Abdellaoue injured his thigh.
Die Roten are already without defenders Christian Schulz and Emanuel Pogatetz through injury.
In addition, Tunisia international defender Karim Haggui was sent off in the defeat against Dortmund and has been banned for the next five matches by the German FA for his challenge on Jakub Blaszczykowski.
Head coach Mirko Slomka told Bild: "It's an unfortunate set of circumstances but we simply have to deal with those injuries.
"Abdellaoue has not played a great deal for us this season and that may have led to a stress reaction.
"I have already told him that he would be allowed to take a holiday as we're going to have a break anyway during the festive period."
